Sea Turtle Nesting Season Kicks off May 1st!

Sea turtle nesting season takes place from May 1-Oct. 31 on Southwest Florida beaches. On nesting beaches, light from waterfront properties can disorient nesting female turtles and their young, which emerge at night and use dim natural light to find the sea. Also, beach furniture, trash and other obstacles can impede sea turtles and their young. See the tips below for how you can help keeping nesting seaturtles & hatchlings safe. Find MOTE Marine Lab’s list of dos & don’ts on our local beaches & waterways at ParadiseNewsFL.com/sea-turtle-dos-and-donts/.

The Dalí Museum Junior Docent Summer Program

Become a Junior Docent at The Dalí Museum’s weeklong camp, where attendees discover new ways to interpret and create art, meet new friends and have fun. This year’s theme, “Inventing Identity,” will focus on the ways in which Dalí reinvented himself throughout his life, exaggerating his life experiences for shock value and crafting mythic stories and symbols from his interests.

In this program, campers will learn the fundamentals of interpreting a painting, plus how to share a compelling story and gain a deeper understanding of the power of images. Not only will students learn about Salvador Dalí and surrealist art, they will be empowered to think independently about art and express their own thoughts. Learn more at https://thedali.org/programs/camp/.
