The community of Dunedin, Fla. – known for its relaxed pace and award-winning beaches such as Caladesi Island State Park – served as the filming set for the heartwarming romcom titled “Valentine’s Town.” The film features the beautiful backdrop of Dunedin and tells the story of Jude, who returns to his quaint hometown to spearhead the construction of a love-themed resort. Jude’s plans are met with resistance from Melissa, a local business owner and his former high school sweetheart, prompting him to decide between career success and a chance at rekindling love.
“The city of Dunedin shines in this uplifting story about the power of honesty, communication and being true to oneself,” said Lisa Dozois, Visit St. Pete-Clearwater Film Commissioner. “Once again, city staff went above and beyond to facilitate the production’s needs, reinforcing the area’s reputation as a desirable, film-friendly destination.”
Primarily filmed throughout the streets of historic downtown Dunedin, viewers will catch glimpses of the city’s iconic landmarks such as the old city hall, The Black Pearl, Sonder Social Club, Cueni Brewing Company, The Wild Iris Cafe, Dunedin Library, and bustling Main Street.
Bringing more than a touch of movie magic to Dunedin, “Valentine’s Town” also provided a significant economic boost to the area. With a film crew comprising 23 talented individuals, the production booked 116 room nights and generated a local spend of $343,000.
Valentine’s Town, directed by Josh Banks, features a talented cast that includes Jonathan Stoddard (Jude), Lindsey Dresbach (Lisa Bloom), and Austin Robert Russell (Declan).
