With spring travel in full swing, Florida’s tourism industry is on pace to surpass 2019 pre-pandemic numbers with spring break set to break records in the greater St. Pete/Clearwater region. Visit St. Pete/Clearwater is partnering with Keep Pinellas Beautiful (KPB) and TikTok influencer Caulin Donaldson to encourage travelers and beyond to both “Unwind & Be Kind” by participating in weekly beach cleanups for the duration of their stay.

From April 1 – May 4, both travelers and locals will have the opportunity to join viral and local TikTok’er Caulin Donaldson for weekly cleanups throughout the destination as well as receive easy tips to practice a socially responsible lifestyle all year round. Participants will be rewarded with a sweet treat from The Hyppo Gourmet Ice Pops available onsite to help post-cleanup cheer. Caulin Donaldson is a 25-year-old Redington Beach resident who is making waves on his TikTok platform (1.4 million followers) by practicing and preaching a profoundly simple message: pick up your trash and keep the destination beautiful.
Thus far in 2022, Pinellas County hotels have been breaking records, with January having the highest average daily rate compared to previous January months, and February breaking an all-time record. Tourism officials for the region anticipate spring travel will follow this trajectory. The “Unwind & Be Kind” program allows travelers to enjoy some of America’s Best Beaches with a socially responsible lens paired with sweet incentives along the way.
