Travelers have spoken and TripAdvisor has named Mote Aquarium in the Top 10 list of best U.S. aquariums, clinching the number five spot, according to TripAdvisor, which recently announced their 2015 Traveler’s Choice awards.
Mote placed 5th in the U.S. list this year, up from 10th last year. This year, Mote is also named the 15th best Aquarium for the entire world.
“We are extremely thankful of our guests who have enjoyed their visit and have shared their thoughts on TripAdvisor. They are the reason we have moved up 5 spots from last year,” said Evan Barniskis, Assistant Vice President for Mote Aquarium.
“At Mote, we continually strive to enhance our guests’ experiences at the Aquarium by sharing our knowledge of the ocean and the animals that call it home. Our exhibits reflect ongoing research in the Laboratory and stimulate curiosity, discovery, exploration and stewardship of aquatic environments.”
The awards honor top travel spots worldwide based on the millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travelers. Award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews for zoos and aquariums in the U.S. and worldwide over 12 months.
“The Travelers’ Choice awards are recognizing the top zoos and aquariums around the world that are the favorites of the TripAdvisor community,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor. “Travelers visiting these award-winning attractions can get a close look and learn about the magnificent creatures that inhabit the world around us.”
In particular, many TripAdvisor reviews mention Mote’s limited-time only exhibit, Oh Baby! and praise Mote volunteers for their wonderful efforts to educate, assist and inspire visitors.
Here is what one happy visitor wrote on TripAdvisor about Mote Aquarium: “So enjoyed our visit to Mote! The displays were wonderful and well labeled. It was nice that there was always a volunteer in the [area] to answer any questions or provide a little extra insight. We really enjoyed the Shark Training session, the touch pool for the rays, and the Oh Baby displays!”
Speaking of our newest limited-time exhibit — “Oh Baby! Life cycles of the seas,” which explores ocean animal romance, babies and families — it will only be open through Sept. 27, so be sure to visit soon!
