#1 GECKOFEST

Gulfport invites you to their Annual Geckofest, celebrating the end of summer with its largest festival of the year, honoring this waterfront village’s unofficial mascot and favorite reptile is “Around the World in 80 Geckos!” The theme offers inspiration for a wide array of costumes, as well as music, dancing, food and drink. Festival-goers are always encouraged to arrive in costume. Parking and admission to Geckofest is complimentary and the event is pet and family-friendly.

#2 Tom Jones Exhibit

Due to its popularity, Tom Jones: Here We Stand opens at the Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg was extended until Sunday, September 10th! For over twenty years Tom Jones, or to use his Ho-Chunk name ChakShepSkaKah (White Eagle), has created a visual record to explore his tribe’s members and culture.

#3 A Motown Celebration

freeFall Theatre Company opens their 2023/2024 season with A Motown Celebration with Chester Gregory. Chester Gregory had the incredible opportunity to perform in the Broadway hit  Motown: The Musical where he played Berry Gordy, Jr., the founder of Motown Records. Gregory’s A Motown Celebration is inspired by his experiences with Gordy and the team that brought the exciting Broadway show to life.

#4 Keepers of Heritage at Creative Pinellas

Keepers of Heritage: Hidden Tales / Custodios de la Herencia: Cuentos Ocultos at Creative Pinellas features Puerto Rican artists and focuses on bringing to light stories and ideas that have been overshadowed or disregarded by mainstream narratives. The exhibition artwork examines and reflects on a diversity of subjects, beliefs, and stories that have been censured over the years, allowing visitors to reflect on how narratives and perspectives continually evolve. Showing now through Oct 15.

#5 Family Day at The Dalí

The Dalí for their Little Surrealist Tours this Sunday, September 3rd 11:15am. Families with kids ages 4-11 years old can join a youth focused tour of The Dali’s permanent collection. Also, DillyDally with Dalí will be happening noon-2pm. In this program, children ages 6-11 can discover the creative world of Salvador Dalí through live arts & crafts.
