#1 St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show
Head out to downtown St. Petersburg’s waterfront this weekend for the St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show- the largest boat show on the Gulf Coast. It will feature a lineup of powerboats and sailboats in water and on land, including a 40,000-square-foot tent housing an extensive selection of marine gear, accessories, and equipment. Complimentary seminars on cruising, sailing, cooking aboard (and abroad!), common weather patterns, insurance tips, medicine at sea, and other marine-related topics. Captains and industry professionals will give presentations, perform demonstrations, and provide insights. Tickets sold online only. $23.

#2 MLK Dream Big Celebration
The 38th Annual MLK Dream Big Celebration returns to St. Petersburg this long weekend. This annual event celebrates Dr. King’s vision of justice, equality, and progress in a diverse, inclusive, and vibrant community. It begins Friday, 1/17, 7pm, with a banquet at the Hilton St. Petersburg Carillon Park. Sunday, 1/19, 4pm, is the band showcase at Gibbs High School, The weekend concludes 1/20 with a parade along First Ave. S beginning at 11am. Newly named Fire Chief Keith Watts, the city’s first Black Fire Chief, will be the parade’s Grand Marshall. Joining the parade will be the FAMU Marching Band.

#3 St. Pete Fine Arts Show
St. Pete Fine Art Show by Hot Works comes to the Imagine Museum this weekend, January 18-19th. This new arts show will be held outdoors in a spacious, clean, paved parking area, making it an ideal venue for high-quality, juried boutique-size art shows featuring only 75 artists. You can even meet the Paradise News team both Saturday & Sunday. Come by our booth to meet Publisher Peter and Founder Renee Roos, Food Editor Kelly Rouse (Saturday morning), Spiritual Leader Dennis Merritt Jones (Sunday afternoon 2-5), and others in between. #4 Rum Runners, Spaniards & Natives Tour at SPMOH

#5 “Four Old Broads” in Gulfport
Gulfport Community Players present “Four Old Broads” starting this weekend at Back Door Theater in Gulfport. Shows are Thursday to Saturday 8pm, Saturdays and Sundays 2pm. Things have not been very pleasant since Nurse Pat Jones began working at the Magnolia Place Assisted Living. A mystery unfolds with laughter as the gals try to outsmart the evil nurse and figure out why so many residents have been moved to “the dark side.” $20 (online only). Runs til Jan 26th.
