South Pasadena Locals Can Use SPB Library
It is now quicker and easier to get your annual South Pasadena library card. Upon payment of $25 at South Pasadena City Hall, residents may immediately take a voucher to the St. Pete Beach Public Library to get their library card (or renew an existing card). While residents may only take their voucher to the St. Pete Beach Library, library cards may then be used at any library in the Pinellas County Library Cooperative. Once you see the beautifully remodeled St. Pete Beach Public Library, with 12 public computers, extensive large-print book and DVD collection, cozy seating, fun children’s area with educational touch-table, and printing/copying station, you’ll want to make it your library home! And be sure to ask about the Summer Reading Program, for both kids and adults, which begins June 1!
From Heath to Hedgerow Opens at MFA
From Heath to Hedgerow: Doulton Lambeth Ware and the British Countryside opens this Saturday, June 5th and runs through October 17th. The 1867 debut of Doulton Lambeth ware at the international exposition universelle in Paris captured the attention of British society, and served as the genesis of a new, uniquely British style of ceramics designed for decoration. SWFWMD Prohibits Campfires
Due to extremely dry weather conditions and high wildfire danger, the Southwest Florida Water Management District is prohibiting campfires on all District campgrounds until further notice. The National Weather Service and the Florida Forest Service (FFS) indicate the Forecast Fire Danger Indices are in the high to very high category throughout the District’s 16-county service area. This means there is a high risk of a wildland fire starting and quickly spreading out of control. Once seasonal rains begin and the threat of wildfire subsides, the District will determine when it is safe to allow campfires to resume. For more information on District campgrounds, visit WaterMatters.org/Recreation.
