The construction of the Pinellas Trail North Gap project is scheduled to be complete and the trail opened to the public in August 2022, with the exception of the new pedestrian bridge over the Lake Tarpon Outfall Canal. Legendary violin superstar Itzhak Perlman will perform with The Florida Orchestra for its 55th Celebration concert on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at 8 pm at the Mahaffey Theater, conducted by TFO Music Director Michael Francis, the orchestra announced this week. Pinellas County’s fertilizer ban runs from June 1st through September 30th. Increased rainfall during this period can cause nitrogen and phosphorus to reach bodies of water, causing a host of environmental issues such as water quality problems, fish kills, and other harmful effects. The City of St. Pete Beach offers paddleboard rental stations creating a stress-free way of enjoying the water faster and without the fuss of toting a board around. Sea turtle nesting season takes place from May 1-Oct. 31 on Southwest Florida beaches. On nesting beaches, light from waterfront properties can disorient nesting female turtles and their young, which emerge at night and use dim natural light to find the sea.
