100 Women Who Care Donates $12K

100 Women Who Care of Pinellas County presented Suncoast Voices for Children with a donation of $12,000 on Friday, July 8th. The mission of Suncoast Voices for Children is to provide for the unmet physical, psychological, educational and social needs of abused, abandoned and neglected children in Pinellas and Pasco counties. The group will also receive a $5,000 matching grant from the Richard M. Schulze Foundation. (Richard M. Schulze is the founder of Best Buy). Click here to learn more.

2022 FWC Decals Now Available

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) 2022-23 manatee and sea turtle decals are now available. These waterproof stickers are colorfully illustrated and look right at home on watercraft, car bumpers or anywhere you want to show your support for these native species.

Legendary violin superstar Itzhak Perlman will perform with The Florida Orchestra for its 55th Celebration concert on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at 8 pm at the Mahaffey Theater, conducted by TFO Music Director Michael Francis, the orchestra announced this week. Pinellas County’s fertilizer ban runs from June 1st through September 30th. Increased rainfall during this period can cause nitrogen and phosphorus to reach bodies of water, causing a host of environmental issues such as water quality problems, fish kills, and other harmful effects. Each Year CTK distributes over 65,000 pairs of new underwear. The drive is designed to collect new underwear to help “underwrite” the cost of underwear. All children deserve clean, new underwear. The City of St. Pete Beach offers paddleboard rental stations creating a stress-free way of enjoying the water faster and without the fuss of toting a board around. Rental stations are located at: ·Pass-A-Grille Beach ·Upham Beach · Egan Park ·McKenney Park. Sea turtle nesting season takes place from May 1-Oct. 31 on Southwest Florida beaches. On nesting beaches, light from waterfront properties can disorient nesting female turtles and their young, which emerge at night and use dim natural light to find the sea. This FREE EVENT will feature live music, food vendors, tailgate themed vendors, local college alumni associations, cornhole tournament, and a field goal kicking competition.
