Gulfport’s Welcome Center plays an important role in the community. Gulfport Merchants Chamber Welcome Center is here to happily welcome and guide all those visiting and living our wonderful city. During events, like the First Friday Art Walk and Third Saturday IndieFaire, they especially need help keeping the Welcome Center open. Earth Day Movie in the Park Thursday, April 20!

Preserve the ‘Burg’s Movies in the Park is back for a special Earth Day edition on Thursday, April 20 featuring the Disney/Pixar classic, Wall-E! This event is a partnership with the City of St. Petersburg Office of Sustainability and Resilience, the evening starts with live music at 7 p.m. by Gent Treadly followed by the movie on the big screen at dusk. Click here to RSVP.

  • Over the past week, the red tide organism Karenia brevis was detected in 53 samples collected from Florida’s Gulf Coast. Bloom concentrations (>100,000 cells/liter) were present in two samples: one from Pinellas County and one from Lee County. Click here to see the current daily sampling map.
  • The City of South Pasadena are teaming up with 10 Tampa Bay again this April for their annual Cereal for Summer campaign! One in four children in Tampa Bay don’t know where their next meal is coming from and food insecurity increases in the summer, when a lot of kids aren’t receiving meals at school. Help feed hungry kids by dropping off your boxes of cereal and other breakfast items at City of South Pasadena City Hall this April.   • Tampa Bay Watch staff and Terra Ceia Preserve State Park volunteers, David and Lynn, installed their latest monotube at the Bishop Harbor Boat Ramp in Manatee County. Fishing line recycling tubes, also known as monotubes, play a critical role in removing discarded fishing line from local ecosystems. TBW manages over 200 monotubes in Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee, and Hillsborough counties in partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife.
