Locals love drinking, dining, and rooting for their favorite teams at this legendary Pass-a-Grille restaurant and bar. With a waterfront view, nine docks, weekend live music, 17 TVs and an awesome happy hour, this Old Florida resto opened in 1994. Their Oct. 28 Halloween party is as famous as their hand crafted secret Bloody Mary mix.
Long time friend and customer Jim Miller bought The Wharf from owners Bill and Diane Rodrigues who owned it for 20 years. Miller loved the vibe and didn’t want it to become condos. Customers were thrilled that The Wharf’s menu, a taste of Cajun and Floribbean fare heavy on seafood, will rock on including the spicy gumbo, peel n’ eat shrimp, weekend shucked oysters, grouper Reuben, jalapeno conch fritters, and coconut shrimp.
Says General Manager Stanton Chevalier: “Everyone is welcome, locals, visitors, and families; we even have a kid’s menu. We have good seafood, comfort dishes, big portions, and something for everyone on the menu, all reasonably priced. Save room for Key Lime Pie.”
Indulge in delicious daily rotating specials and a rocking happy hour Mon.-Fri. 3:30-6pm. Tuesday features the popular Fish Fry served with fries, slaw and hushpuppies, Patty Melt and Roast Beef Dip. There’s Taco Wednesday (two served with beans and rice), Shrimp Po’ Boy on Thursday, Soft-shell Crab Basket or fried Fish Basket on Friday, Grouper Nuggets Saturday and Ceviche or Quesadilla (chicken, shrimp) on Sunday.
Start with shrimp stuffed with cheese and jalapenos, grilled, blackened, fried or Buffalo or seafood apps (smoked fish spread, fried calamari, lobster bites or seared sesame tuna). Soups, salads, baskets of boneless wings or fish, alfredo bowls (shrimp, chicken, lobster) and dozens of sandwiches or burgers beckon. The Reubens (grouper, crab, corned beef) and Wharf steak and cheese are fabulous especially with a side of homemade chips with Ranch. Dinner seafood entrees (mahi, shrimp, scallop, grouper, crabcake, salmon, yellowfin tuna) are bestsellers and come with two sides.
A full bar and friendly bartenders whip up specialty cocktails and there’s an excellent small wine and beer list. On weekends, they shuck oysters outside where you can perch on VERY tall Adirondack chairs and sip away and often, there’s live entertainment. Food-to-go available.
