Among the new technologies Dr. Gutu uses is a dental laser that combines water, air and laser energy to perform procedures, minimizing the need for needles and drills. This WaterLase removes very precise amounts of tooth, without damaging or cracking the rest of the tooth! And because it is so precise, you will rarely need anesthetic.
The traditional X-ray machine is replaced with a digital radiograph which produces instant results while an intra-oral camera takes photos inside the mouth and displays them on a screen so the patient can see. This intraoral cameras is the size of a pen and helps the dentist see the condition of teeth and gums more clearly. This advanced technology allows Dr. Gutu to zoom in on small diseased areas, cracks, chips and worn metal fillings to provide a more detailed view.
About Dr. Gutu
Dr. Gutu’s migrated from Moldova, an Eastern European country once part of the Soviet Union to Indiana as an exchange student, then came to Florida to study Dental Medicine at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale. Graduating in 2005, she worked as a dental associate in Jacksonville, then in Bradenton for ten years. Now she lives in St. Petersburg with her husband and their little girl, Anya. After 10 years of as an associate, Dr. Gutu opened her own practice, St. Pete Modern Dentistry. She is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry and has hundreds of hours of continuing education. After 10 years of experience as an associate, she has had an opportunity to work in various settings as a dentist and gain a variety of experiences with different aspects of dentistry including implants, pediatrics, oral surgery, root canal treatments and the use of soft and hard tissue lasers. In her free time, Dr. Gutu loves running and yoga.
