The Centre-St. Pete Beach
Article By Michael Moses
There are two things I remember about holiday visits to my aunt Hazel’s house. The wonderful Lebanese foods she prepared and the Readers Digests I found on her coffee table. I was always intrigued by the articles I read and I know how aunt Hazel loved them.
Florida voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment in November 2016 guaranteeing qualifying patients access to medical marijuana, a victory for decriminalization supporters who narrowly lost a similar ballot fight two years earlier. Amendment 2 had more than 71 percent of the vote.
Amendment 2 allows patients with illnesses of the “same kind or class as or comparable to” cancer, HIV, post-traumatic stress disorder, Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy to obtain marijuana through state-approved doctors and state-approved dispensaries. According to one state estimate, about 450,000 Floridians would qualify to use the drug under these rules.
The Florida legislature recently expanded the cannabis products allowed to include some edibles.
It has been difficult to find reliable information on benefits and dosing, both for widely available CBD and the tightly regulated THC. That was part of the reason for the creation of the Centre of St. Pete Beach, to help facilitate the understanding of these medicines and to help patients find the proper mix of medicine to be their best.
Information is also beginning to be more widely available. The Health and Medicine column in the September 2020 Reader’s Digest has an eight page article beginning on page 110, entitled “The Promise Of CBD.”
They report about Laurie Maxson, a 65-year-old retired school administrator in Colorado Springs, who was trying a variety of natural treatments to help relieve the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, after the side effects turned her against prescription drugs. Laura Dobratz, 32, had trouble sleeping every night. Josh Kincaid, 43, had chronic neck, back pain, migraines and anxiety, who said “After taking CBD I no longer have to take opioids or muscle relaxants.” Stephanie Johnson, 47, who had chronic stabbing pain for years after surgery, said, “I could feel the pain calming down and everything subsiding.”
In the past few months, in spite of or perhaps in part thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, The Centre has been the provider of choice for medical marijuana concierge services for more than 900 individuals, pretty much all of whom came for relief from the problems experienced by those profiled in Reader’s Digest last month.
Triverde Health’s medical marijuana doctors have helped over 750 patients from ages 11-90 obtain certification, with their major complaints including:
1. Anxiety
2. Pain
3. Trouble Sleeping
4. Seizures
5. Wean Off Drugs
Many have found relief with our Impirica CBD line and with MUV’s new line of over-the-counter CBD patches. Others applied for their state certificates to legally add a touch of THC, which studies show greatly enhances the effectiveness of the CBD. Many clients are finding impressive results with the combination.
The Center has also implemented a busy schedule of classes and mini-events and is offering part or all of The Centre for rent for your holiday or special events with occupancy up to 109. A huge tree will go up in the Centre before Thanksgiving.
Relaxation opportunities including yoga, massage, cupping, and artistic opportunities like Puff and Pour Paint. Gastronomic adventures such as making your own edibles like Chocolate Covered Strawberries or custom flavored gummies are also offered.
