Support Sacred Lands’ 2020 Green Frog Moon Festival

On March 14th and 15th Sacred Lands will once again be hosting the Green Frog Moon Festival; and we need your help!!  The festival was originally inspired in 2007 by Yona Dunning, a long-time friend of Sacred Lands, who wanted to help save the greenhouse.  Since then other Green Frog Festivals have generated the funds used to make needed repairs and upgrades to the greenhouse museum/meeting room and site.

Sacred Lands operating budget is funded by donations and programs. Maintenance on the greenhouse and grounds as well as helping care for the flock of peacocks are regular ongoing expenses. The AC installation, sound system, lighting and ceiling canvas insulation and kitchen area were all possible because of the Green Frog Festival. Upcoming projects include updating the display cases, adding a second bathroom and completing the shelves in the Native American library room.   As you know it takes many hands to make something like the Green Frog a success. We are so grateful for all the volunteers who have helped with our events and we reach out again this year and ask for your help.

You can help in several ways:

VOLUNTEERING

First by volunteering your time the weekend of the event.  We need help:  setting up for the festival, cleaning up afterwards and food preparation. We also need volunteers to greet guests at the gate admissions table, help with parking, serve food at the Sacred Lands concession and coffee bar, work the sales table, auction and raffle.  In you have time and interest we could also use your time preparing for the event. Jobs include helping with advertising and distributing flyers. Volunteer a few hours, a full day or both days/whatever works for you can work for us.We also need help on the silent auction committee.  If you would like to work with our team of volunteers on business donations please call Saundra Hunt at (727)744-9978.

Volunteer meetings: We are planning two volunteer meetings which will be a fun way to meet some of the other volunteers. Our first meeting is planned for Sunday, February 9th at 2PM. We will meet in the greenhouse and at that time if you’re new to volunteering at Sacred Lands you can learn a little more about what to expect. We also will be discussing our needs and making work assignments.   Our second meeting will be on Sunday March 1st at 2PM and it will be a final run through of some of the details as we get closer to the festival. At this meeting you will learn your volunteer assignment and times and we will work on event preparation.

DONATIONS

Currently we are seeking donations of interesting quality items for the auction and raffle. Nice items including art, jewelry, household goods, services, gift certificates, tickets, books etc. are needed If you own a business or work with a business that provides services we would be so grateful for a donation for the auction. It makes such a difference with the auction to have a variety of quality items. If you have items to donate please call Doris at 727 430-0388.

We are looking for someone who enjoys meeting people and would enjoy contacting area businesses and talking to them about Sacred Lands and our preservation and educational mission and to ask for a donation for the auction.

We want to thank you for being friends of Sacred Lands and supporting our efforts to have this little piece of old Florida maintain its uniqueness. Saundra Hunt has done an awesome job keeping the festival alive and growing.  The festival has enabled Sacred Lands to continue to exist.  We depend significantly on this festival for our very survival as a non-profit, so please consider helping. Please share this message with others you think would be interested.

If you’d like to help as a volunteer or have items for the raffle or auction please respond to this email or call Saundra at 727 744-9978 or Doris at 727 430-0388. You can also leave a message at the following email address: sacred.lands.stpete@gmail.com
