Through Sept. 6 – Application period for 2023 Emerging Artist Grants NEW
The 2023 Emerging Artist Grants aim to assist artists who are early in their career, are quickly growing as artists and find themselves at an important moment when these grants would have an especially large impact on their development as a professional artist. The annual program provides up to 10 artists a grant of $2,000. A professional artist mentor chosen specifically for them will work with them on a one-to-one basis during the grant period, and the artist will be part of the Emerging Artist group exhibition. Through Oct. 16 – DARKMATTER Exhibition
Free, Wednesday-Sunday, Noon-5pm, The Gallery at Creative Pinellas, 12211 Walsingham Road, Largo. DARKMATTER is an immersive exhibition of works by internationally acclaimed sculptor and multi-disciplinary artist Jason Hackenwerth. This exhibition takes viewers on an awe-inspiring journey through turbulence and drama to transcendence and joy. Two massive sculptures made in the artist’s signature vocabulary of latex balloons will anchor the show in the main gallery.

Free admission, Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, 600 E Klosterman Road, Tarpon Springs. Florida’s Waterways is a continuation of LRMA’s summer exhibitions focused on water and climate change. From rivers and marshes to the Everglades and the Gulf of Mexico, photographers Clyde Butcher, Barry Anderson, Robert von Sternberg, and painter Denis Gaston explore life above and below the surface as we consider the human impact on our environment and the accelerated effects of global warming.

Aug. 13-Jan. 15, 2023 – Prince Twins Seven Seven NEW
$12-$22, Museum of Fine Arts, 255 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701. Known by the translation of his title and name, Prince Twins Seven Seven was the only surviving child out of seven pairs of twins born to his mother. Because of this, and the associated traditional religious beliefs of the Yoruba people of Nigeria, he held that he possessed unique spiritual insight and power. These perceptions had a profound impact on his artistic expression as a printmaker, painter, and sculptor. Aug. 13 – Angel Outreach Craft and Treasures Sale NEW

Fifty vendors will offer crafts and treasures such as pottery, jewelry, hand-painted china, woodwork, and fabric creations at this indoor event. A dual exhibit featuring the work of painter and poet Jesse Murry. “Rising” introduces the art, poetry, and criticism of a unique and polymathic American talent, bringing together paintings from the last five years of the artist’s life as well as recordings of influential voices attesting to Murry’s enduring legacy. The concurrent “Necessary Angels” explores the bonds of friendship between Murry and Lisa Yuskavage, who met while attending Yale School of Art.
