In an adorable bungalow, beautifully decorated, Stan’s Epicurean serves a prix-fixe dinner (menu changes weekly), Thurs.-Sat. 6-10pm. Reservations usually go quick for the beautifully plated and equally superb dishes paired with stunning boutique wines and bubbly. On a recent evening, the tantalizing menu was an ode to gustatory delight: Amuse Bouche, Mediterranean Stuffed Mushroom, Arugula Berry Salad with Goat Cheese, Intermezzo, choice of Caramelized Scallops or Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon and a Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake. Bravo!
Next door, Stan’s Tapas Lounge’s jazz music and twinkling votives hum with conversation at the bar and tables, a hip modern decor that is warm and inviting with the finest small plate service on the Gulf Beaches. Open Tues.-Thurs. 4-9pm and Fri.-Sat. 4-11pm, it’s a breath of casual sophistication.
It’s hard to decide among the Briskit Bruschetta or the tapas – from the garden (Marinated Olives), the field (Deviled Eggs Carbonara, Plancha Steak) or from the sea (Baja Ceviche, Bacon Wrapped Scallops, oysters, and smoked fish spread) or charcuterie platters. Save room for chef’s dessert and take home the seasonal soup of the day.
But there’s more culinary joie de vivre. Diners flock to the Friends with Fondue Wednesday, with different cheeses and accoutrements each week. (We loved the mild and creamy brie fondue with apples, grapes, seasoned baguette, and bell peppers.)
