In coordination with a worldwide day of action happening in over 120 countries, St. Petersburg will host a climate strike and march this Friday, September 20th at 11:30am at City Hall.
Young people and adults will strike to demand transformative action be taken to address the climate crisis. Building on a historic surge of student protests for climate action around the world – including Greta Thunberg’s weekly protests.
Friday’s strikes will show leaders what people power is capable of just days before the United Nations Climate Summit and New York City Climate Week.
In St. Petersburg, adults and students will come together in solidarity with the global youth-led climate strikes and the City of St. Pete has encouraged workers to join. The march is one of over 800 actions happening in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Guam.
Climate change represents the biggest threat humanity faces, endangering our global economy and the lives and health of billions of people. The Climate Strike calls for a world we all deserve to live in – one where economic security, good health, education and clean air and water are available to everyone. By holding a worldwide day of action on an unprecedented scale, the Climate Strike will show elected leaders the power of a united movement to address climate change and push to secure a future safe from climate catastrophe.
