St. Petersburg City Theatre is facing a significant cash flow challenge. We need the immediate financial support of our membership and the community to continue operations and plan for a new season. We do not have the funds to pay an Executive Director and Megan Byrne has resigned. We are moving toward a larger volunteer force in the office to weather this storm.
From the talent and production side, the theatre is in a very strong position. This past year marked one of its strongest spring seasons ever with the tremendous hit Memphis playing to sold out crowds, even demanding command performances for an additional sold out weekend.
Additionally, its Youth Theatre Program is recognized as one of the best in Pinellas County. The Teen Productions this past year of Legally Blonde and Into the Woods were outstanding. Its Summer Camp Programs, beginning in two weeks, sold out earlier than ever before. All summer camps currently have waiting lists because the demand has been so great. All summer camps will run this summer as planned. The Board is dedicated to not only returning the theatre to financial health but to strategically plan for the future.
What can you do to help? Donations can be made online at www.spcitytheatre.org by clicking “Donate Now!” in the top right hand corner of the website. Any and all donations are greatly needed and will be much appreciated.
Individual and Corporate Sponsorships are being offered for our summer camp productions. Email: ExecDir@spcitytheatre.org to obtain more information about how you can become a sponsor.
