KICK IT If you love soccer and the Rowdies, you’ll be thrilled to see that 2024 debuts the USL Super League Tampa Bay, a new women’s professional soccer team, USL is a new women’s soccer network of 10-12 professional teams plus pre-professional teams, and academy programs. Leaders hope to have the league sanctioned by U.S. Soccer as a Division One league. The Tampa club is owned by Darryl Shaw, the Tampa Bay developer and investor, Jeff Fox, former chief information officer of BluePearl Pet Hospital, and David Laxer, the co-owner of Bern’s Steak House. Set to kick off in August 2024, the USL Super League intends to launch as a first division league, reflecting its commitment to the highest standards in American soccer and a collective vision to be a global leader in women’s soccer on and off the field. The USL Super League helps address the opportunity gap between men’s and women’s professional soccer in the United States, home of the world’s most successful women’s national team. There are currently 101 professional men’s soccer teams and 12 professional women’s soccer teams in the United States.
TEE OFF Topgolf entertainment will open late June in the Carillon, with 102 climate-controlled hitting bays, a full-service restaurant and bar that you can dine in and watch sports and delivers its goodies while you play as well. Tentative hours are Fri.-Sat. 9am-1am and Sun.-Thurs. 10am-midnight. You can choose from a group of solo golf games and challenges for holes located near and far from the hitting zone. The St. Petersburg location is the second location in Tampa Bay, with one in Brandon.
