Heritage Village and the Pinellas County Historical Society will again host the Speaking of History free lecture series. Topics pertain to Pinellas County and Florida history, culture and heritage. Question and answer sessions and light refreshments are offered after the program.
The first program will be “All the Hits of the ‘60s: Popular Music of the Civil War” on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. in the Pinellas Room at Heritage Village in Largo.
Presenter Rick Moock, a performer for 35 years with the national touring and recording 97th Regimental String Band, will talk about songs Civil War-era soldiers sang in camp and on the battlefield. Recorded excerpts will accompany the lecture.
