Heritage Village and the Pinellas County Historical Society will again host the free Speaking of History lecture series. Topics pertain to Pinellas County and Florida history, culture and heritage. Question and answer sessions and light refreshments are offered after the program.
The first program will be “Morton F. Plant: Businessman and Philanthropist” on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. in the Pinellas Room at Heritage Village, 11909 125th St., N., Largo.
Presenter Gail MacDonald, an associate professor and author, will explore Plant’s contributions in Florida and in Connecticut based on research for her book, Morton F. Plant and the Connecticut Shoreline.

Award-winning author, Jeff Klinkenberg will discuss the “Florida Man” phenomenon, as well as introduce authentic Floridians he met throughout his career as a journalist and beyond. Reservations are recommended, call (727) 582-2472.

Former St. Petersburg mayor Rick Baker will speak on the rich history of Florida in his newest book, Beyond the Sunshine, A Timeline of Florida’s Past.

Heritage Village is open Wednesdays – Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays, 1 – 4 p.m. It is closed on all Pinellas County holidays.
