St. Pete Beach Announces Expedited Permitting To Help Residents and Business with Post-Helene Rebuilding Process

Press Release from the City of St. Pete Beach 10/4/2024

The St. Pete Beach Community Development Department (CDD) is  committed to providing exceptional and timely service to residents and businesses whose properties were  impacted by Hurricane Helene.

It is currently estimated that thousands of homes and businesses will need varying levels of repair or  rebuilding. Community members are also facing heightened public health risks, including water  contamination, mold growth, and increasing incidents of carbon monoxide poisoning due to improper  generator use.

Addressing these risks is crucial for protecting our residents and ensuring a safe recovery. The CDD  recognizes that extraordinary measures need to be taken to accommodate the community’s needs and  expedite the department’s operations.

Specifically, the CDD will provide residents and businesses with expanded service hours, expedited  permitting, limited mobile permitting, and an increased presence of code enforcement on weekends to  protect and inform residents and businesses of the potential for unfair, illegal, and dangerous activities.

Permit technicians and a building official will be staffed at the permit desk, located at 155 Corey Avenue,  during all hours of operation. A Mobile Permit Technician will be able to print permits on-site.

Effective October 7, 2024, through November 2, 2024, the hours of operation are as follows:

• Permit Desk: 8:00 – 4:30, Monday through Saturday, closed on Sunday.

• Mobile Permitting: 8:00 – 4:30, 7 days per week

• Code Enforcement: 8:00 – 6:30, 7 days per week
