SAY IT WITH SILK
We have always loved going to Villa Gallace for dinner with family and over the years have become friends with Luigi and family. His amazing daughter Amanda Gallace has returned from working as a nurse in NYC during the pandemic (and helping in Ukraine) to pursue her dream of acting in Los Angeles (she was a safety officer on Manhattan film sets) and launching her artistic silk scarf line.
We caught up with Amanda in the Coffee Mill. “I wanted to follow up and share how I was inspired to start Morning Light. My family means a lot to me and my grandma especially has influenced me tremendously. In December 2021, my grandma passed away and I inherited many of her beautiful silk scarves. I have memories of my grandma playing dress up with me, wrapping her silk scarves in my hair as we would play and dance together,” recalls Amanda fondly.
“She was from Spain and so full of life; she was a mom of six, was an artist, was so fashionable, and was always dancing. As an adult, I loved to wear those same scarves and I’d love to imagine the memories she made in them as I now got to live the story of my life in them, too.”
Amanda set her goals high for her scarf line: “Quality is important to me, and to honor my Italian roots, I found a wonderful family-run company in Italy to manufacture the scarves.”
Her art celebrates light, color, and adventure. Says Amanda: “I want the brand of Morning Light to symbolize a renewal; every morning is a new opportunity to become the person you’re created to be.Each day is a new chance to live your unique story, love others well, and create the legacy you want to leave behind.”
As a final homage to her grandma, Amanda gathered cards and letters her grandma had written over the years and digitized her handwriting to spell out “Morning Light” which is on each scarf. InMorningLight.com
