Say BOO to the Flu with a Vaccine at No Cost to You

The seasonal flu vaccine is important protection for anyone older than six months of age, but this year it’s especially important to get it. Flu and COVID-19 symptoms can be similar, but only the flu has a safe, effective vaccine readily available now.

The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County (DOH-Pinellas) urges everyone to get their vaccine before Halloween. Although many health insurance providers cover the cost of the flu vaccine, those who are under- or uninsured may find it hard to afford it.

This year, you can say boo to the flu to the third power with three opportunities to get your influenza protection at no cost to you.

DOH-Pinellas is again bringing back its annual Flu Boo events now in their seventh year to provide flu vaccines at no cost via a drive-thru. To make it even more convenient, this year’s vaccination clinics will be held at three locations over three days. Adults and children older than three can get flu vaccines at no cost without an appointment. Hours at these locations are 5-7 p.m.:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 20, in St. Petersburg: 205 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 21, in Mid-County: 8751 Ulmerton Rd., Largo
  • Thursday, Oct. 22, in Clearwater: 310 N. Myrtle Ave.

Vaccines are provided first come, first served, while supplies last. Because the vaccinations are outdoors, they are scheduled as weather conditions permit. To complete the required registration form ahead of time, go to www.PinellasHealth.com to find the screen-fillable version.
