Rock n’ Roll meets Ballet

The St. Petersburg Ballet Conservatory holds rehearsals for upcoming performances of Rockin’ Ballet!

Soon to celebrate their first anniversary, the fledgling St. Petersburg Ballet Conservatory dancers are already impressing audiences with their progress. Their Christmas concert performed in the SPBC Blue Theater, located at 15th Ave S. and 58th St. in Gulfport included quite a variety of ballet styles including several creative excerpts from The Nutcracker. SPBC’s Artistic Director, Servy Gallardo, mentions, “I want our students to learn all requirements of what being a dancer entails. Everything from the basic fundamentals in technique and training, to proper nutrition and body maintenance, to sustaining your individual student responsibilities, to correct hair and makeup, to caring responsibly for their costumes, and to respectfully appreciate everything this beautiful art form has to offer, “ says Gallardo. “It is important to be knowledgeable in it all.” Servy’s bride Alexe is costume designer and creator, amongst other roles.

St. Petersburg Ballet Conservatory is a 501c3 not for profit organization which gratefully accepts donations, gifts and bequests. A wish list was included in the holiday program, welcoming donations toward scholarships for dancers in any amount, with naming rights available for some of the largest legacy gifts that would help provide a ballet floor for half of the theater space ($25,000) amongst other longer term needs and desires for the ballet company.
