Several Pinellas County officials will be participating and speaking at the “Sea Level Rise: What’s our next move?” conference at St. Petersburg College on Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3. The county participants will be Commissioner Kenneth T. Welch, Mike Meidel, director of Pinellas County Economic Development, Kelli Hammer Levy, division manager of Pinellas County Natural Resources and Libby Carnahan, UF/IFAS Florida Sea Grant Extension agent.
The conference is sponsored by the Institute on Science for Global Policy and the Institute for Strategic Policy Solutions and will be held on the Seminole Campus of St. Petersburg College at 9200 113th St. N. in Seminole. Attendees will participate in unique sessions that will bring together scientists, policy makers and citizens to explore practical options for mitigating and adapting to sea level changes.
The conference will include community debates and small-group caucuses that will focus on identifying areas of consensus and actions to be taken relevant to St. Petersburg and Pinellas County. 
The event is free and open to the public but a limited number of seats are available.
