* For all those who have kindly reached out to ask regarding Hurricane Helene, Pete & Renee and the rest of the Paradise News team are all safe.
** Please note, events times and dates may change due to recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene.

We took a road trip this summer from Breckenridge, Colorado through Utah and Idaho to Spokane, WA., and back through Yellowstone and Rocky Mountain National Parks. We spent a magical evening reminiscing at the Spokane Arena August 9th, listening to John Mellencamp,  the legendary Bob Dylan and his band, followed by the amazing 91-year-old Willie Nelson and family, with Waylon Payne.

As soon as the sun sank behind the stadium walls, it was a cool, comfortable, amazing night. That’s the way it’s likely to feel Friday, October 4th, the first of four weekly free concerts when the Horny Toads perform at Horan Park in St. Pete Beach and the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce kicks off their “Taste of the Beaches” promotion, the chamber’s biggest fund-raiser, and a great way to inexpensively sample the fare at over 50 local restaurants from Saturday, Oct. 5th through Sunday October 13th. Taste Tickets ($10) are available now at the chamber 727-360-6957.

Things are getting busy. October 17th is the start of the Clearwater Jazz Festival and two weeks later it is the spookiest time of the year, featuring trunk and treats, Barktoberfest, costumed pet parades and more, leading up to election day, November 5th.

Hurricane season officially continues through November and there have been, in past years, some horrendous late season storms, but we seem to have been spared the worst of the prognosticator’s predictions for a big storm season in 2024.

Most of you are aware that this magazine is funded through advertising. Paradise News has been blessed to have a
very loyal family of regular advertisers that help pay our bills. The content of most ads change each month.

We also have a great bevy of seasonal advertisers, like Clearwater Jazz Festival and United Healthcare Plans,
reminding you open enrollment, (when you can adopt Medicare Advantage plans) starts October 15th. United Healthcare, by the way, is considered to be the most holistic. Renee changed to United Healthcare – AARP when she was told she needed chelation therapy for heavy metal poisoning. Only United Healthcare covers it. If you are just reaching Medicare age, an independent health care agent is suggested. They know who is happy with a variety of plans that may fit your needs.

Paradise News prints 30,000 copies, ten times/year, monthly from now through May, and mails 65% or
more of them, mostly to homes on the barrier islands and some of the top residential areas in St. Petersburg.
The remaining 10,000 are distributed in 500+ racks and stacks, from the beaches through downtown St. Petersburg.

We are also active online at www.pardisenewsfl.com and e-mail a weekly digital newsletter on Thursday to a fast-growing list of subscribers. You can see last week’s and subscribe online for FREE under the WEEKLY tab. Between our print copies our outreach and web readership, we estimate 100,000 sets of eyes are watching. We are always looking for shops or service providers who are worth what they cost and can handle more business.
