On Tuesday, January 13, 2015, Montessori by the Sea school (MBTS) presented three checks at the city of St. Pete Beach’s Commission meeting, $500 for the St. Pete Beach Public Library, $1500 for the city’s Library Building Fund and $500 to Support our Troops. An additional check for $500 will be presented to the Gulf Beaches Historical Museum, located on Pass-a-Grille.
The monies resulted from their annual fund raiser, The Historical Fish Broil and Mullet Festival, which was hosted in November, 2014 together with St. John Vianney Catholic School.
In keeping with tradition, MBTS used the well attended event to raise funds for local education, just like the founder of the event, Captain Kenneth Merry did in 1930. The local school, which is a huge proponent of community and has made it part of their mission, operates beside the beach on the grounds of Pass A Grille Community Church.
Nicole Wilson, MBTS Director and presenter of the checks said, “this was an opportunity for us to give back to our community. The library is a great resource and the staff there are very support of our work. It’s a wonderful partnership.”
