Through Sunday, May 8 – American Stage in The Park: Footloose
Priced by date and seat location, 8pm, Demens Landing, Bayshore Drive, and Second Avenue S, St. Petersburg. This Broadway hit tells the story of a big-city teen who finds himself out of place in a rural town where dancing has been outlawed. As he tries to carve out a place for himself, he ignites a revolution in the town as the younger generation rebels against the strict rules of the local preacher. 727-823-7529

Through Sunday, May 22 – Picasso and the Allure of the South
$12 ages 6-12; $29 ages 18-64, The Dali Museum, One Dali Blvd., St. Petersburg. This special exhibit features 77 paintings, drawings, and collages by the renowned Spanish artist. Half have never been seen in the United States. Exhibit is organized in collaboration with the Musee National Picasso-Paris. Through Monday, July 25 –Arts Summer School Grants

Applications are open through July 25 for grants for area arts summer camps for ages 8 through 15. Eligible campers, who include students who attend Title 1 schools, receive a reduced or free lunch, live in designated neighborhoods, or meet other requirements, can apply directly to Creative Pinellas for a grant to attend a session of an arts-related camp program this summer. Through July 31 – Ansel Adams/Clyde Butcher dual exhibits  NEW

$10 and up, The James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art, 150 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. The Ansel Adams traveling exhibition “The Masterworks,” includes 32 black and white gelatin silver prints spanning four decades, capturing national parks, the people of New Mexico and the ever-changing landscapes of America. Clyde Butchers’ “America the Beautiful” exhibit reveals wild and natural places where few humans have ventured. Sunday, May 15 – BIPOC Play-Reading Series
Free, 2:30pm, TECO Theater, Straz Center for the Performing Arts, 1010 N MacInness, Tampa. This last of a four-part series offers the dramatic experience of hearing excerpts from plays written by talented local and national Black, Indigenous and People of Color writers. Thursday, May 19 – WE Convene: Arts and Tourism NEW

Thursday, May 19 – Save a Slice of Paradise fundraiser  NEW

$50/person, 6:30-9:30 p.m., Sea Sea Riders Restaurant, 221 Main St., Dunedin. A tropical night of celebration raising money to save the West Klosterman Preserve in Pinellas County. The West Klosterman Preservation Group hopes to raise $3.2 million by July 1 to purchase the 14-acre property to save it from development. Ticket price includes music, food, and a drink ticket. Saturday, May 28 – Blippi The Musical  NEW

Saturday, May 28 through Monday, August 22 – Gio Swaby  NEW
$15 and up, Museum of Fine Arts, 255 Beach Dr. NE, St. Petersburg. The work of multidisciplinary artist Gio Swaby explores the intersection of Blackness and womanhood. Saturday June 4, and Sunday, June 5 – Tampa City Ballet presents Carmen 2022  NEW

$68.75, 7pm Saturday/3pm Sunday, Straz Center, 1010 N MacInness Place Tampa. This new production will feature 28 dancers in a multi-disciplinary fusion of ballet, art, contemporary dance, opera, flamenco-inspired movement, and dramatic raw emotions set to George Bizet’s score. This production envisions Carmen not as a victim, but as a modern woman who is strong and steadfast in her female persona, choosing to die free rather than live under a man’s rule.

Monday, June 6 – Happy Camper Art Camp begins
