The Saturday Morning Shoppe and Live Love St Pete are teaming up again this August for a “Back to School” event on Saturday, August 3rd at Tropicana Field (Lot 1). Over one thousand backpacks with school supplies will be given out to local elementary school students from 4 to 8pm. And this year, Live Love St Pete will also be providing 1000 free uniforms to kids who need them. This is a free event that is open to the public. No registration is required.
“Back to School time is very stressful for underprivileged families in St. Pete, and being able to provide backpacks, school supplies, AND uniforms, furthers our mission to provide much-needed resources for under-served school children in St. Pete,” said Live Love St Pete founder, Melody Proud.
“Our sole purpose is to give back to the community allowing an opportunity to ease the economic strain associated with school starting back up,” said Renee Edwards, Founder of The Saturday Morning Shoppe.
“We’re very thankful to the community for their generous support in providing funds for this event, as well as our partners, First Presbyterian Church of St. Pete and Seacoast Bank,” added Melody.
About Live Love St. Pete: St. Petersburg resident Melody Proud, who has a passion to help underserved school children in the area, started “Live Love St. Pete” as a novel way to get the whole community involved. It started in 2021 with a unique series of “Live Love St Pete” tee-shirts featuring an artistic view of the St Pete skyline. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the shirts went to provide resources for underserved area school kids. The project has grown from there. For more information visit LiveLoveStPete.org.
