The Suncoast Quilting Circle (SQC) guild of St. Petersburg is a non-profit group with over 100 members, formed in 1981. They meet five times each month at a convenient location for Paradise NEWS readers, at the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 6315 Central Ave., each Wednesday morning at 10 am and the 3rd Monday of each month at 7 pm.
Visitors and new members are welcome any time. Our group is diverse, energetic, friendly, knowledgeable and community-oriented. Many of the more talented members have won prizes and appeared in national publications. They are eager to learn and share new techniques and ideas. Beginning quilters will find the Sit, Sew & Socialize (SSS) and Tips & Techniques (T&T) helpful for learning new skills quickly. They have quilting retreats every other year. They also hold biannual enrichment days where members can spend a day sewing mini-retreat style) and learn new skills.
A monthly newsletter, Thread Tales, keeps members up to date. Check the Calendar and Events pages online at: www.Suncoastquiltingcircle.org to see what the club is up to in 2018. Many members’ projects can be seen on the Suncoast Quilting Circle’s Facebook page.
Workshops, lectures, and demonstrations are held throughout the year. They encourage Show & Tell about members’ projects, which inspire everyone to keep quilting. Projects include seasonal blocks, friendship blocks, annual holiday quilt, block of the month, and every second year a quilt show, which includes a raffle quilt, made by our members. The Quilting Show is a great opportunity to be inspired and meet some members.
It is held March 9-10, 2018, at Minnreg Hall, 6340 126th Ave N, Largo, FL. More than 200 quilts will be on display. Bring along the business card size ad in this issue of Paradise NEWS for $1 off the $8 admission to the 17th biennial show.
