LEGAL: Working Together Through These Challenging Times

Travels through Property Law by Tom Brodersen, Esq.

All of America (and the world) is coming to grips with the dramatic changes to our personal lives, employment status and economic circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 virus.

Here in Florida, we are learning that we are no more immune to this storm than anyone else.  The changes are coming so swiftly that one can’t even begin to predict the full implications of our state, county and local government reactions, in their efforts to manage the crisis, not even the ones which will occur between the time I write this column and its publication. I can’t know, for example, if there will be a state-wide (or even nation-wide) stay-home order in place by the time you read this (although it seems quite likely). If there is, it will almost certainly not require law firms to close their doors (although many will), as the courts will still be operating, although in a reduced capacity. Many people will feel an immediate need to quickly adjust their estate plans to current events, and buyers and sellers will still need help planning and closing real estate transactions.

We here at Anderson & Brodersen, P.A. don’t claim to have all the answers, but we definitely plan to keep helping our clients cope with today’s challenges to the very best of our ability. For that reason, we expect to keep our doors open, although, like everyone else, we will have less business; however, we will continue to diligently represent our clients. In order to make sure we aren’t spreading the virus, we will do a lot more by telephone, e-mail and the internet than previously, and where there is a need to meet in person, we will take all possible precautions.

We will continue to provide free initial consultations on the full range of issues we are equipped to handle, which include real estate law, title insurance and closings, estate planning, wills and trusts, probate, civil litigation, personal injury, DUI representation and other criminal matters, and recommending the most capable, reliable practitioners in other fields in which we don’t practice.

Helping people is what we do, and we love doing it. Do us the honor to let us help you through these challenging times.

Of course, we’re giving our employees scheduling flexibility, so please call before visiting our office.  Stay calm. Like all past challenges, we’ll get through this together.
