St. Pete/Clearwater International Airport Host 38th Honor Flight Welcome Home Reception

St. Pete – Clearwater International Airport (PIE) hosted its 38th Honor Flight Welcome Home Reception with Honor Flight of West Central Florida on October 22nd. 70 Veterans were thanked for their service with cheers, signs, and handshakes on their return from a daylong visit to Washington D.C. visiting the war memorials. CERT Volunteers Install Smoke Alarms

In October, volunteers from Seminole CERT, the  American Red Cross and City of Seminole Fire Rescue teamed up together to install 94 smoke alarms in Seminole. This event kicked off Fire Prevention Week, (Oct. 6–12), which is the observance of the great Chicago Fire that occurred in 1871 a disaster that destroyed much of Chicago and resulted in the loss of life for over 300 residents due to the lack of safe fire practices and standards. Live in the Greater Seminole area and don’t have a smoke alarm?

Obtain one by contacting Seminole Fire Rescue at 727-393-8711 ext. 210 or email bdykens@myseminole.com to arrange for an in-home visit to have a smoke alarm installed.

Contact your community fire department if you do not live in Seminole and ask about FREE fire alarms.


2nd Annual MFA Thriller Dance

Some creepy, amazing images from the 2nd Annual MFA Thriller Dance on Thursday, Oct. 24, took place on the steps of the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg. Nearly 100 dancers from the community thrilled a crowd of about 300 spectators who gathered on the streets and lawn to watch, record and cheer on the ghouls and zombies as they performed the epic “Thriller” dance. Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge Gives Back to Local 4th Grade Class

Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge, in Madeira Beach, recently took part in the Pinellas County Adopt a Teacher/Class program by adopting Ms. Carron’s Elementary School 4th Grade class at Orange Grove Elementary School. For a donation of $150.00 an individual or business can adopt a classroom or teacher which will assist them in procuring educational items for their students. Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge encourages individuals, organizations and businesses to consider taking part in this worthy program and help our public school teachers accomplish their goals. Admiral Farragut Interact club and Gulf Beaches Rotary Donate 10,000 Books to Tampa Bay Area Kids

The Admiral Farragut Interact club and the Gulf Beaches Rotary sorted 10,000 public school library books for foster kids and non-profits. This is the 7th annual library school book distribution, to date the Rotary Club received over 45,000 books all of which have found their way into the minds and hands of our needy children.

Here is a list of children’s groups who will be receiving this year: PAL, Eckerd Connects, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Guardian ad Litem, Pasco Kids, Jr League of St Pete and many others. A big thank you goes out to the Admiral Farragut Interact Club for all their help in making this a great success.
