STRAWLESS CAMPAIGN Gains Momentum!

As a festival that brings nearly 200,000 people to St. Pete every year, St. Pete Pride‘s commitment to No Straws St. Pete means a great deal. It’s just the latest in a number of impressive commitments to the movement which is growing, not only in St. Pete, but across Tampa Bay. The newly opened Lucky’s Market as well as all three Hooters locations in St. Pete and The City of Gulfport has created a voluntary Strawless Summer Challenge for city restaurants, bars and cafés and other major events including Run Fest St. Pete. While we’ve aimed to keep tabs on all of our partners, we’re learning new ones daily that have simply committed to the idea of making straws available only on request. For more information or to enroll in the challenge, call the City of Gulfport Technical Events Specialist, Kristin Ossola at (727) 893-1118, or email kossola@mygulfport.us.enrolllOnline at, www.mygulfport.us/strawless-summer-challenge City of Gulfport is proud to announce the launch of the new City of Gulfport app for iOS and Android mobile devices, the newest way to connect with its citizens.

The Skyway Marina District has hosted the May Day Races for the last 4 years.  The race offers a 5k, 10k and kids race with food, fun and more.  Each year the May Day Race Committee and the Skyway Marina District Board chooses to put money back into the community.  A portion of proceeds from last years May Day Race was given to Bay Point Middle School science teacher, Dianna Mills for active learning chair.
