Pinellas County Continues to Beat Tourism Records!

On the heels of a record-breaking March, April and May for tourism in Pinellas County, Visit St. Pete/Clearwater shared that the success continues with June 2021 reporting the highest TDT in County history at $8,273,409 – a 94% YOY increase from 2020 and 46% YOY increase from 2019.

The destination’s success can be seen across all key hotel metrics, outpacing the State across the board. Most significantly is St. Pete/Clearwater’s average daily rate (ADR) which combined with pent up demand is propelling the region’s success. June saw an ADR of $189.57 – 30.3% higher than June 2019 and more than $20 higher than the State’s monthly figure. Average occupancy for the month was 80.6% with six days reporting more than 90%.

To date, fiscal year TDT collections (Oct. 2020 – June 2021) are 43.05% higher than 2020 and 9.89% higher than 2019.

Despite Red Tide and the COVID-19 Delta variant, July 2021 numbers are pacing similarly to June with occupancy and ADR outpacing record-setting 2019 metrics.
