PUBLISHERS MESSAGE

So Much To Be Thankful For

You can look in almost any direction these days and find people and conditions worse than our own. Earthquakes flatten entire villages in Afghanistan. Russia is still trying to recapture Ukraine.  In the Middle East, Israel is at war. We pray for peace. And on Nov. 11th, we are thankful every day for those serving in the armed forces now and the veterans who sacrificed and served to keep America safe.

Here at home, Tampa Bay experienced six tornados and hurricane damage in the last few weeks. It could have been so much worse. Ft. Myers Beach is still rebuilding from Ian.  Meanwhile Renee and I saw a perfect “ring of fire” in New Mexico on Oct. 14 and went to the largest hot air balloon event in the world within 24 hours. We are reminded how blessed we are. We love that we found a career that contributes in many ways and brings enjoyment to people for almost 30 years and counting.

Last month, Paradise News saluted a few of the eco heroes that protect and clean our beaches and the Gulf waters we love. You can help too. Volunteer for a beach clean-up. Trash Pirates in Madeira Beach, for example, meet at Waterfront Realty early on first Saturdays. Lots of other volunteer opportunities inside this issue.

What are you thankful for? If you are a local, you can celebrate the break from highs in the nineties. If you are a visitor, you can be thankful for the recently replenished sand on the beaches and for your freedom to travel where you wish. If you are a returning seasonal resident helping support the shops, restaurants, and services we enjoy all year: welcome back, we are thankful for you, too. When you encounter our advertisers, please thank them for advertising in Paradise NEWS, so we can continue to send them to you.

Renee and I are thankful too for the efforts of Buddy Baker, our Arts and Leisure and Events column editor. His listings have been swelling with options for your enjoyment. If you love the way the magazine looks, thank the talented Janet Nummi, our art and production director. In addition to our expanded content list – mostly by Executive Editor Nanette Wiser, Art News editor Caron Schwartz and Encouraging Word’s Dennis Merritt Jones – we have robust dining and home improvement sections and a growing health section. This month, we also feature how you can give back in articles by Steve Traiman and Holly Hargett.

Thanks to our digital coordinator who celebrates ten years on our team and does a terrific job with our website www.paradisenewsfl.com, Thursday eblast, and social media. Thanks to our advertisers, especially our faithful realtors, old and new for your continued support and to our loyal readers, without whom our lives would feel far less fulfilled.

If you know a good company that could use more business, suggest us. Give them your old copy. When you encounter our advertisers, please thank them for advertising in Paradise NEWS, so we can continue to send you your favorite magazine. Happy Thanksgiving!
