The public is invited to attend an opening reception for The Good Earth, featuring the artists of Creative Clay and Parc Center for Disabilities, Friday, Sept. 8, 6:30-8:30 pm, at the St. Thomas’ Art Project at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, 1200 Snell Isle Blvd. NE, St. Petersburg.
The Good Earth, a group exhibit featuring the artists of Creative Clay and Parc Center for Disabilities, opened Sept. 1 and continues through Sept. 30. The artwork is inspired by the good Earth, and it expresses the Earth’s beauty and interpretations of the challenges our world faces.
The art created expressly for this show reflects the notion that the Earth is breathtakingly beautiful, complex, and full of diverse life.
Gina White, of St. Thomas’ Art project shared the guiding theme behind this show
“This exhibit celebrates the joy and beauty of our world, while remembering the need for all of us to do our best to take care of it,” she said.
Creative Clay Member Artists were eager to meet the challenge of creating art themed around our planet.
“The theme of the good earth, in all its beauty and fragility, was inspirational for the artists of Creative Clay,” said Jody Bikoff, Creative Clay Director of Exhibitions. “Their interpretations produced a collection of artworks of vibrant sunsets, idyllic mountains, city scenes, and endangered animals, as well as messages about recycling and saving our seas.”
