St. Petersburg Preservation is pleased to announce the kick-off of our new lecture series: Boom, Bust, and the Built Environment featuring six programs over the course of 2015. Thanks to a generous grant from the Florida Humanities Council, admission to the series is free! We’d also like to thank Estelia Mesimer of Keller Williams Realty for her generous sponsorship of the series.
St. Petersburg serves as a microcosm for the state of Florida, two tourist driven economies that surf a continuous wave of boom and bust in the real estate market. This dramatic cycle is unique in the larger history of the United States and is key to understanding the city’s identity. Through a mix of lectures and panel discussions SPP will examine the history of the boom-bust cycle and delve into important questions about how to manage future growth.
