The Michael J. Yakes Foundation is committed to participating in the relief efforts of Hurricane Dorian.
Starting today, September 10th, 2019, Mayor Emeritus, Michael J. Yakes is placing a 15 foot Uhaul truck on standby at the Michael J. Yakes Recreation Complex, 5730 Shore Blvd. South, to collect needed supplies for Hurricane Dorian victims. Residents can donate supplies at the Gulfport Recreation Center at 5730 Shore Blvd. S. Donations will be aimed at the long term recovery of the islands and support communities in need of humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
The MyFoundation is seeking items such as diapers for infants, generators, batteries, fans, pet food, sunscreen, disinfectant wipes, bug spray, mosquito nets, flashlights, gas cans, duct tape, work gloves, and extension cords. A full list of needed items can be found below.
