With the beginning of the fall season comes National Fall Prevention Month in September – a time when aging advocates all over the country raise awareness on how to stop the devastation of falls for older adults. None shine the spotlight on this impactful topic more creatively than SAGES Theater, a local nonprofit 6 years young that has already been on the national stage with an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show last month.
78-year-old playwright, Linda Goldman, and SAGES Theater cofounder, Christine Hamacher, collaborated with local first responders and community partners like AARP and Area Agencies on Aging to infuse this play with noteworthy moments that resonate with older audiences. Denying Gravity provides an inspiring theater experience that is a roller coaster ride with twists and turns between comedy and drama. A minor misstep interrupts the good life of an active retiree, and she is annoyed, yet somewhat amused, to find herself challenged, until she realizes she has entered a “twilight zone” of the unexpected. Experience how this genuine story converts audience members into advocates and can quite literally save lives.
SAGES Theater operates entirely on donations and is committed to providing their family-friendly Plays with Purpose to the public for FREE for the benefit of all. One performance per city brings in hundreds of audience members who then provide their feedback at the conclusion of the show.
