Crown Automotive Group is generously donating a 12-passenger Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van to Great Explorations Children’s Museum for the Outreach STEAM Team Program. The van presentation will take place at Crown Eurocars located at 8302 US Hwy 19 N in Pinellas Park on Tuesday, October 30th at 8:30 am.
The new Sprinter van will allow the Outreach STEAM Team from Great Explorations to bring valuable, educational, hands-on programming from the museum out into the community at large. The van will allow the museum to provide access to local students that might otherwise not be able to experience the exhibits and programming that happen on-site at the 4th Street museum location. The Outreach STEAM team regularly visits high-risk neighborhoods and Title 1 schools in the St. Petersburg area. In FY 2017-18 the Outreach STEAM Team reached 14,516 individuals which was made up of 5000 at school outreaches and 9,516 at community outreaches.
School readiness is essential for future success. By using STEAM Team to introduce STEAM concepts in new and exciting ways, children are able to use what they have been taught in the classroom, and apply it to hands-on activities with the STEAM Team to draw new inferences and make new discoveries. The programming provided by the STEAM Team, thanks to the generous support of Crown Automotive Group, will contribute to better academic outcomes and future potential.
Not only has Crown Automotive Group donated the van, they have donated the wrapping of the van, so that the museum branding and program can be widely recognized as the team navigates the community.
