The annual “Chowder Challenge”, put on by the Friends of the Gulf Beaches Historical Museum to benefit the Museum, will have 25 local restaurants competing for the cherished “Golden Ladle” top award. Event is Sunday, November 9, 1 to 5pm, rain or shine, at Hurley Park, 1500 Gulf Way, in Pass-a-Grille. Buy tickets now HERE.
Visitors can sample and judge some of the Best Chowders in the Tampa Bay Area! The “People’s Choice” will have the biggest votes for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd prize-winning chowder. Everyone will vote for their favorite(s) with three gold coins, all for one or spread out….
Added to these votes will be the “Celebrity Chefs – Judge’s Choices” by four of the area’s top culinary experts. This year’s judges are: Joyce LaFray, restaurant reviewer and author; Ann Palumbo, culinary artist and author for Channel 10; Mary Lou Janson, writer and publicist; and Ann Kelly of WDUV’s Magic 94.9 show.

Shipyard Brewing Company will supply libations of local craft beers to complement the wide variety of chowders. Also available will be wine, soda, water, and baked goods. Other features of the family event include live music by Mo & Bob Manola of “Boat of Us”; Magic by Magic Man Barnaby; and hourly raffles with lots of prizes. Event is Pet friendly (on leashes).
