Chamber Invites Sponsors & Participants to the EPIC Program

epic-logoThe beauty of the Gulf beaches is what keeps the local economy going, providing thousands of businesses with the means to keep residents employed and visitors happy.

The Treasure Island & Madeira Beach Chamber of Commerce invites local businesses to engage our communities in maintaining our clean air, clean water, and clean beaches by sponsoring and participating in its newly adopted EPIC (Environmental Preservation Initiative for our Communities) Program.

“The city governments of Madeira Beach and Treasure Island have done a wonderful job of protecting and preserving our beaches,” observes Greg Tong, chairman of the Chamber’s EPIC committee, “but we all have a part to play in keeping our beaches beautiful, our environment healthy, and our ecosystem sustainable. Sponsoring this endeavor will give us the means to educate the public and our businesses about ways to protect our beachside communities.”

The first phase of the comprehensive, voluntary EPIC program involves working with restaurants and bars to raise environmental awareness by eliminating Styrofoam and single-use plastic items, among other initiatives. The program will eventually include hotels and other businesses.

“We have a good head start on attracting sponsors,” says Tong. “The Cities of Madeira Beach and Treasure Island were part of this movement well before our Chamber established the EPIC program. Also on board are Rep. Kathleen Peters, Caddy’s on the Beach, Bilmar Beach Resort, John’s Pass Village Association, Sloppy Joe’s, William Karns Enterprises, and SERVPRO. We’re looking for more!”

Sponsors and program participants will be recognized on the Chamber’s website,

http://islandneighborschamber.org/epic/, Chamber media, and on the EPIC Facebook page, EPIConTIMB.
