Research Shows Pain Relieving Effects of CBD
I opened The Goods to offer high quality, organic, lab-tested products that help people and personally have helped me. We have talked about anxiety and sleep in previous columns and the success many have had using CBD products.
This month, I would like to discuss CBD and other cannabinoids’ effect on pain. Let’s explore what is known from research and anecdotal reporting. There are over 100 different cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, each with slightly different profiles and effects. All cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), a cell-signaling system present in all mammals. This system is responsible for balancing and regulating body processes that control everything from our mood, sleep, immune system function and metabolism.
As the underlying causes and symptoms of pain are complex, individuals can experience different types of pain. In an experimental pain study in 2021 out of Syracuse University of CBD in humans, researchers concluded that CBD pain relief is driven by both pharmacological action and psychological placebo effects.
Like prescription medicines, cannabis works by activating receptors in your brain. When this happens, your receptors are basically saying “Hey body, your pain is gone!” even if the ailment still exists. CBD isn’t just a brain-receptor manipulator, however. It also has anti-inflammatory properties. It addresses symptoms directly at their source rather than just masking
your pain.
As St. Augustine said, “The greatest evil is physical pain.” The Goods carries a pain stick from the state of Washington, which the top cancer institute in Seattle recommends to their patients. It has been a tremendous help to me. I use it daily for relief. It is my passion to help others as I have been helped so much by the cannabis plant. Check out our website, www.thegoodsfl.com.
