Black Skimmer nesting season has begun, and they have come back again this year to nest on the north side of Indian Shores beach.
Please remind visitors and guests that Black Skimmers are protected by the U.S. Migratory Bird Treaty Act and are also protected as a State Threatened species by Florida’s Endangered and Threatened Species Rule.
The St. Petersburg Audubon Society recommends that you keep your distance, never intentionally force the birds to fly, and avoid posted areas and ask others to do the same.
