Bayou Catering Serves Up TO-GO on St. Pete’s Central Ave

Bayou Catering, David Bilyeu’s catering company, had a great ten-year-run prior to the COVID 19 threat. Built mostly on word of mouth, the company stayed incredibly busy, mostly with corporate work.

A year ago (October 2019) David was on the cover of your Paradise NEWS as he opened the market and café he had dreamed about for years. Located on the south side of 6600 block of west Central Ave. in St. Petersburg, the narrow Bayou Market storefront hides a treasure trove of made-from-scratch meals to go, traditional comfort foods, plus some awesome Cajun specialties.

Bayou’s answer to the pandemic was consolidation. David’s engineering mind helped him to reorganize the new location, and it has become the home for the catering company as well as Bayou Market and Café-to-Go. There had been a counter and a handful of two-tops for eating in. Just two small tables remain for customers waiting on food orders.

Lunch is served weekdays 11am-2pm and Saturday 12am-4pm. Dinner is ready weekdays from 4-7pm.  The menu for the week is posted on their website at www.bayoumarketandcafé.com as well as on a screen at the counter.  You can order ahead at 727-914-7500 and your order can be packed and ready for your pickup or just stop in.

As you walk in, there is a glass front fridge on one side and a freezer on the other full of some of the most authentic Cajun foods you are likely to find outside of Louisiana, as well as a wide selection of comfort foods for your fridge or freezer. For Cajun fans, the Gumbo, Crawfish pie, Etoufee and Jambalaya are all delicious, although some heat lovers may need to spice it up a bit. David has learned that not everyone has the same heat tolerance.

Whether or not you are already a regular, you will find the Bayou Café and Market a terrific addition to your food gathering options. Prices are affordable so enthusiasts can eat from there everyday.  Ask about catering or catered food to go for family and business events and occasions. Please tell them you read about them in Paradise NEWS.
