Shipwreck: Treasures of the Deep St. Petersburg Museum of History Thru May 31

Odyssey Marine Exploration exhibit unlocks some of the greatest mysteries of the sea from gold coins and silver ingots to a never-before-seen ship’s bell, it’s the most remarkable find on dry land. Shipwreck: Treasures of the Deep is an interactive journey thousands of feet below the ocean’s surface to discover fascinating treasures locked away for centuries. Experience the cutting-edge technology and innovative methodologies used to dive far below the ocean’s surface to a realm most humans have never seen. From the collection of Robb and Susan Hough, these stellar classical guitars from the 1840’s to 1990’s pay tribute to the instrument’s enduring crafts- manship and intricate beauty in tone/design. You can enjoy recordings made on the exhibit’s instruments. The makers luthiers spend years perfecting their craft, with some of the most exotic seen here. Guitar Festival Lecture – Jeffrey Elliot- Saturday, March 19 3 pm. Free with admission. Museum of Fine Arts, 255 Beach Dr. NE, St. Petersburg.“Forensic Lutherie: Behind the Scenes of Historical Guitar Restoration.” Lutherie refers to the crafting of stringed instruments.
