The Dunedin Fine Art Center dresses up for its 36th annual holiday show and sale with an exhibit titled Splendiferous! What makes this exhibit different is immediate gratification: when you see a painting, ornament, or any artwork you like just carry it to a cashier and take it home!

Slava Ukraini! (Glory to Ukraine!)
Celebrate Ukrainian culture with KOLO, an immersive experience of the dance, visual and musical heritage of Ukraine, during its North American premiere in Sarasota at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Dec. 26 (www.vanwezel.org/boxoffice/kolo). Wicked awesome
Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast hosts Wicked Plants, the Florida Society of Botanical Artists’ exhibit of images of flora they consider wicked, i.e., thorny, poisonous, etc. The show runs through the end of the year at the foundation’s Burrows-Matson House headquarters at Bay Preserve, 400 Palmetto Ave. in Osprey Monday-Friday 9am-4pm. The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts presents Transformations: A Gender Exploration by Mariette Pathy Allen. Pathy Allen has been photographing the transgender, genderfluid, and intersex communities for over 40 years. This exhibition is a tribute to her life’s work and the continual fight for gender exploration.

Artsy opportunities for adults
University Area CDC (Community Development Corporation’s) Prodigy Cultural Arts offers free art lessons to adults of all abilities. Taught in English and Spanish, you’ll explore drawing, composition, color and styles, using various media and painting techniques.

Hurricane Ian may have pushed Tampa’s first-ever SoHo Artwalk to Nov. 5 but didn’t dampen the festivities. The one-day showcase of visual, written, performance art and more by local artists takes place from noon to 5pm along Tampa’s South Howard Ave. Maps will be available at various locations and on display at Ike Smart City kiosks across the city of Tampa.
American Stage presents “The Colored Museum”
George C. Wolfe’s satirical exploration of African American culture celebrates its contributions and continuing legacy. The play takes us on a journey through 11 “exhibits” that illuminate African American stereotypes old and new and return to the powerful soul and spirit of what it means to be African American citizens.

Fifteen years after the first-ever iPhone hit stores for $499, a factory-sealed, first-generation device just sold through LCG Auctions for $39,339 – nearly 80 times its original price. “We had no idea of the impact it would have,” LCG Auctions founder Mark Montero said. “To discover an original first release model from 2007 still brand new with its factory seal intact is truly remarkable.”
The unstoppable Creative Pinellas
Creative Pinellas’s 2023 Emerging Artist Grantees include Troy Bernardo, Jenipher Chandley, Marie Cummings, Kathryn Cummins, Dennis DeBon, Kimberly Engel, Patrick Arthur Jackson, Aimee Jones, Amy Wolf, and Agueda Zabisky.
The grant includes a financial award of $2,000 as well as a professional mentor and an exhibition during the grant period.
Creative Pinellas and Visit St. Pete/Clearwater are launching the first ART’N Month in November. The annual event celebrates the arts, arts organizations, and artists throughout all of Pinellas County (aka Arts Coast). St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) has partnered with Creative Pinellas to add murals by local artists Laura “Miss Crit” Spencer and Leo Gomez to the Gate 12 Mural Project. The artists were selected through an open application process to create a welcoming art experience as travelers arrive on the ramp outside Gate 12. The murals should be finished by yearend.
