5 Ways to Prepare for Hurricane Season!

1- Take Advantage of this Weekend’s Tax Free Days
Hurricane supplies will be tax free in Florida this Friday, May 29th through next Thursday, June 4th. That means its the perfect time to stock up on everything you need in case of a natural disaster including flashlights, a generator, coolers, radios, batteries, tarps and more. See the full list of what qualifies here.
See tips for selecting the right generator for your home here.

2- Have an Evacuation Plan
Where will you go? How will you get there? Do you need an emergency access pass to return home after evacuation? Make sure you have the answers to all these questions before disaster strikes. Check to see if you need an emergency access pass here. See Pinellas County’s evacuation map and shelter list here

3- Make Sure You Are Signed Up for Alerts

4-  Get Supplies and Documents Ready
Step 1, make a list of the lists you need. We suggest an at-home supplies list, go-bag list, documents list, medications list and now COVID-19 supplies list (masks, hand sanitizers, disinfecting wipes). See our recommendations for what should be on each of your lists here.

5- Prepare Your Home
Here is another great opportunity to create a list! Know what you can do now to ensure your home is ready by removing dangerous trees & limbs, checking your insurance policy, installing hurricane shutters or windows and so forth. Know what you need to do before you leave such as boarding up windows & doors, removing lawn furniture or decluttering drains and gutters.
